A New Amsterdam man was on Thursday remanded to prison by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus when he appeared before her on a charge of felonious wounding.
The man, Hubert Thomas, called, ‘Fabulous’ 35 of Angoy’s Avenue; New Amsterdam, Berbice is accused of on Sunday December 28, 2014 at Main Street, New Amsterdam, unlawfully and maliciously wounding Audrey Briggs with intent to maim disfigure, disable or to cause her grievous body harm.
According to information, the accused and the victim were known to each other for about six months prior to the incident.
About 21:10 hrs on the day in question, the two were among a number of people imbibing at the Lim Khan Restaurant. Subsequently it is understand that a misunderstanding developed between the accused and the victim.
Thomas subsequently took a Guinness bottle and pelted Briggs, striking her in her face and causing her to receive injuries. The woman was subsequently hospitalised.
The accused subsequently escaped and was only recently caught.
He was remanded to jail until May 28.
