Magistrate Sunil Scarce on Tuesday recommended that Junior Adolphus should undergo a Psychiatric evaluation. Adolphus of Richmond Housing Scheme was the father who tried to kill his son last week at his home.
Adolphus, 30, appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s court on Tuesday and was ordered by the Magistrate to return to court on June, 2.
Magistrate Scarce asked Adolphus what prompted him to want to kill his son and Adolphus told the court that he was sorry for his actions. He also described his erratic and estranged behaviour as troubling.
Scarce recommended that Adolphus’s health be investigated, before any charge is imposed on him by the police.
Police mentioned that on April 23, last, Adolphus held a knife against his son’s neck and attempted to sever the child’s head.
The child’s mother, who saw what her husband attempted to do, ran to her son’s aid. He was subsequently transported to the Suddie Public Hospital where he received medical attention for a laceration to his neck.
Adolphus has been fingered in a series of other incidents on the Essequibo Coast.
