Linden Secondary Schools U-19 Basketball final …
Mackenzie High School and Linden Technical Institute are to battle for the
Victory Valley Royals organized annual Linden Secondary Schools Under-19 basketball championship this afternoon at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.
Playing in the semifinals on Monday the reigning champions, Mackenzie High, overcame rivals Christianburg Wismar Secondary 34-30 after trailing by ten points in the final three minutes of the game through the combined efforts of Otis Williams who netted eight points, and Tyrese Mitchell and Yannick Tappin each scoring seven for the winners.
Akini Wilson was the game’s leading scorer with 14 points for the Christianburg Wismar Secondary side, while Daniel Lee added nine in the losing cause.
Their opponents will be the Linden Technical Institute who scored a 49-30 win against New Silvercity Secondary as national player Terron Welch scored 17 and former junior national Dennis Lee contributed 14. For the New Silvercity side, Dwayne Paddy had 14, while Coel Winter scored six and Branley Griffith and Cleveland Denny four apiece.
The final will be preceded by the third place playoff game at 16.00hrs.
