2014 New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice
Former Berbice under-15 batsman, Javed Mohamed, became the latest centurion of the 2015 New Building
Society Ltd Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice, when he slammed 115 for Fyrish in their latest match against Fyrish Strikers who had done well to tally 202 for 8 in their 30 overs against them. However, Mohamed’s blistering knock, which included 8 fours and 7 sixes, led Fyrish to an easy 7-wicket win with 8.5 overs to spare.
Opening batsman, Nazeem Samad’s 92 (7 fours and 7 sixes) for Belvedere United was very timely and crucial for Belvedere United as, other than his fellow opener, Davendra Rampedarat’s 41 (the two of them putting on 167 for the opening stand), none of the other nine batsman got past the score of 6 in their team’s 192 all out in 31 overs, including 40 extras against Rose Hall Town Bakewell B. Off-spinner, Vintendra Kumar, took 6 for 20 from 6 overs. Samad then came back with his left arm spin to take 3 for 38 to lead his side to a 48-run victory.
Off-spinner Ajay Ramsammy took 5 for 15 from 5 overs to help Tamarind Root of Hampshire bowl out Belvedere Battle Steel for just 81 in 30 overs. Tamarind Root then galloped to a 10-wicket win with their openers, Kunal Mangal hitting 50 not out (7 fours and 3 sixes) and Deonarine Rangasammy 28 not out in just 10 overs.
Medium pacer, Alvin Chowramootoo, took 5 for 19 from 7.2 overs to see D’Edward restrict Monedderlust of NO.5 for 108 in 28.2 overs. D’Edward went on to win by 5 wickets.
Kumar Chand slammed 69 (5 fours and 6 sixes) and took 3 for 16, which together with 62 from Devendra Balram, led No.64 Fighting Marines to a 96-run win over No. 52 Survival.
Also scoring a half-century was Zamin Azeez of Sandreef.
