In response to the humanitarian needs following the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on the 25th April, the International Federation of Red Cross and the Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has launched a major emergency response operation appeal to provide vital services including food, shelter and water and sanitation assistance for 75,000 vulnerable people.
Authorities report over 5,000 and counting persons have been killed and many buildings have collapsed in the Capital city, Kathmandu. As such, IFRC is calling on public spirited citizens to show their support to the organization’s initiative. Red Cross supports this appeal by reaching out to the local Guyanese population to donate monies in response to this appeal. Persons can donate directly using the following link.
