Just as Essequibians had anticipated a lull in their electricity woes that have been affecting residents in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), on Monday residents living on the Southern section of the Essequibo Coast were without electricity for hours.
The situation continues to frustrate Essequibians, who are now tired of the prolonged power outages.
On Friday, last, two Caterpillar backup engines were deployed to the Region to cushion the electricity problems that have been affecting residents in the Region. When installed, the engines would benefit the residents of the Southern section, while the lone engine which is now in operation would source electricity to residents on the northern section of the Coast.
Essequibians have been suffering from continuous periods of blackouts for the past month. The company maintains that it is affecting daily maintenance of the engine.
Meanwhile, a new power station is to be constructed to replace the old facility at Anna Regina.
