Belvedere man wounded by marauding gang, hospitalized

A Corentyne man is now hospitalized after he was wounded by a marauding gang as he was returning from a wedding house.
According to information Devendra Roberts, 21, a labourer of Lot 18 Belvedere, Corentyne, Berbice, was on his way home from a wedding house around 00:30 hrs on Sunday when he was attacked by Nishal Lalbeharry, Krishna Anchella and others who were armed with broken bottles and pieces of wood.
They allegedly dealt Roberts several lashes about his head and parts of body. He was wounded to his left side abdomen, chest and lower back.  He collapsed and was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was admitted in a serious but stable condition.
The four suspects were subsequently arrested and are in custody. Charges are likely shortly.
