Systems are in place for the President Cup Horserace meet organised by the Port Mourant Turf Club in collaboration with the PPP/C slated for this Sunday April 26th at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice.

Most of the major players and sponsors in the horseracing fraternity have indicated a willingness to be part of the day’s action.
Among the sponsors on board so far are Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables, Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service ad Racing Stable, Kris Jagdeo and Sons Construction and Racing Stable, Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Shariff Business entity and Racing Stables, Peter Lewis Construction, Anirude Ramcharitar Construction and Dennis DeRoop among others.
Eight races are listed for the day with close to $6M in cash and other incentives up for grabs including the President’s Cup for the winner of the feature event.
The A class event will see the country’s top runners in renewed battle for the top prize of a sumptuous $1.2 M winner’s pocket and the President Cup over 1700M. Top horse Score’s Even will be out to avenge its loss at the recently held Guyana Cup Fever meet at the same venue, but with the likes of Diplomatic Cat and the ever improving Spit Fire and Jack is my Style set to burn up the track Score’s Even can expect to have a hard time. Other horses like the up and coming Just Call Me Boss. Bridal Stone Corner, Monsoon and Run Nana Run could also spring a surprise. A hotly contested event is anticipated.
The other key events on the day’s card are the E1 & Lower for a winning take of $500,000 and trophy over 1300M, the G1 and lower 1300M event has $400,000 available for the winner along with a trophy along with the three year old West Indies Bred 1400M event for a winner’s money of $400,000 and trophy.
There is also a race for H and lower and three years West Indies bred maiden animals for a winners pocket of $240,000 and trophy over 1300M. The horses slated to compete in the ‘I’ and lower event will race for a winning take of $220,000 and trophy over 1400M.
The J1 and lower animals will run for a winning take of $200,000 and trophy over 1000M. The event for J3 and lower horses has a top prize of $180,000 and trophy also over 1200M.
The final event which is also over 1200M is for horses classified J3 and lower for a winning take of $160,000 and trophy.
With so much on offer a scintillating and action packed day of racing is anticipated.
