70 years old Zamin Hamid takes hat-trick
Jamal Cort hit 86 (6 fours and 5 sixes) and Troy Mathieson 66 (3 fours and 6 sixes) to spearhead their team
Courtland All Stars to 316 for 7 in 30 overs against No7 in their latest match of the 2015 New Building Society Second Division 40-over Cricket Competition in Berbice, their effort being the best performance by a team so far in the competition. Their opening pacer Keon Sinclair took 4 for 15 to bowl out No7 for 116 to see his team to a massive 200 runs victory, the widest margin of victory in the competition so far.
Seventy year old off spinner Zamin Hamid, who has been participating in organised cricket in Berbice for fifty six years, took the first hat-trick of this year’s competition so far for Fyrish Road. With a 5 wicket haul under his belt from an earlier round, the captain, his son Riaz Ahmad Hamid, inexplicably brought him on until the 25th over after Chesney were 144 for 7 and he picked up a wicket with the last ball of that over. Two runs were then taken off Hassan Hussain’s over after which Hamid took two wickets with consecutive balls to end with the interesting figures of 3 for 0 off 1.2 overs leaving Chesney 146 all out. His effort was however in vain as his team were bowled out for just 106 in 24.5 overs. With Isaac Kamulladdin hitting 55 (6 fours and 4 sixes).
Cheskoy Riders posted a daunting 267 for 9 in 25 overs against Kendall’s Union B who in response, their number three batsman Yougraj Totaram blasted 51 (10 fours and 1 six) but with the scores of 8, 3, two 1′ and six zeroes from the other batsmen, they ended on 80 all out in 16 overs. Extras was the second best topscore with 16 as Cheskoy pacer Levi Thomas took 4 for 13. Other batsmen scoring half centuries were Nick Ramsaroop of Blairmont Community Center, Kevon Clarke of Scottsburg United Totaram Persaud of No 68 Turn Team.
