DEAR EDITOR,
From the time he took office, Bharrat Jagdeo has shown contempt for the rule of law. Everyone found out that he is a habitual liar; he cannot be honest about anything. Jagdeo has no decorum and no regards for anyone, man, woman or child
Only heaven knows why he was tolerated as Commander in Chief for so long. Now he and the PPP in their quest to remain in power are condemning the very military which protected them for 23 years (too long).
In 2009, if I recall correctly, former President Jagdeo embarrassed all Guyanese at a Caribbean Heads of Government conference at York College in New York. A lady asked him a simple question and his response was shocking—even the participating Heads of government raised their heads to the ceiling; they just couldn’t believe that their counterpart was so undisciplined. He began to curse out the lady in the presence of US Congresswoman Yvette Clarke.
In our optimism, we should not take anything for granted, the PPP has no intention of going away quietly. They performed poorly, enriched themselves, and expect the masses to always look the other way. Enough is enough! This man Jagdeo is not God Almighty and someone needs to calm him down. He is encouraging the PPP base not to accept defeat on May 11th. Shouldn’t he be arrested for such utterances?
Our people must free themselves from Jagdeo/Ramotar and this PPP cabal’s marginalization, starvation, homelessness, rape, murder, joblessness, and lies. Enough is enough, and May 11th 2015 should mark the beginning of the end to racism and poor governance. We must be free of the fear that stalks the land, the fear that prevented the opposition from fighting back; the fear that prevented the army and police force from adhering to the rule of law; the fear that prevents the judiciary from administering Justice.
In this period of history, we must unite as one. We cannot allow the PPP’s intimidation of fear to let us lose hope. We cannot allow the PPP’s cynicism of doom and gloom to hold us back. We cannot allow the PPP’s tirade about the military which protected them to disenchant us.
Together we will have the strength to deliver us from this evil we face for too long on May 11th. What we need in Guyana today is leadership with a vision we can depend upon. Leadership and security is what the APNU + AFC with David Granger is offering the Guyanese masses today. Leadership and unity for all Guyanese!
Finally, we must turn out Election Day to make absolutely sure that the ruling cabal are given the send-off they deserve. And as Clint Eastwood once remarked, “Sometimes if you want to see a change for the better, you have to take things into your own hands.” Yes, let us take it into our own hands and dismiss this cabal! “So shall it be written, so shall it be done” on May 11th.
