The long overdue autopsy for dead five-month-old, Kevon Critchlow was yesterday collected by the child’s mother, Suemede Critchlow. The results were a repeat of the preliminary post mortem, according to Critchlow. A previous cause of death was given as brain haemorrhage.
The mother yesterday expressed her concern about the results since they didn’t actually answer her questions.
She said that the police officer, who had witnessed the post mortem, told the family that a blood sample was taken to ascertain what had caused the brain haemorrhage. And it is unclear why the results are the same, only in a more technical term.
Kaieteur News understands that the blood samples were taken by Government Pathologist Nehaul Singh, but it was unclear who performed the tests.
The five-month-old infant died last month after a visit to the Plaisance Health Centre. The family alleged that the child died because of a wrong injection administered by a nurse at the Centre.
Despite the preliminary post mortem stating that brain haemorrhage was the cause of the child’s death, the family still held on to the belief that the actual cause was due to the negligence of the nurse.
The child’s father, Kevon Critchlow, is now before the Sparendaam Court answering to the charge of threatening language made towards the staff of Plaisance Health Centre. He is expected to return to court next month (May 8).
