Businessman, Junior Flue made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday
charged with drug trafficking.
Flue, 34, is accused of having 63 grammes of cannabis in his possession on April 20, at 178 First Street, Mocha, Arcadia, East Bank Demerara for the purpose of trafficking.
The father of two pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
His Attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat told the court that the police were chasing a man through his client’s yard. He said shots were fired during the process and the police stormed into the defendant’s home and put the allegation to him.
Police Corporal, Bharrat Mangru objected to bail citing the prevalence and penalty attached to the offence. He also indicated that no special reasons were advanced to the court by the defence.
Mangru’s objections were upheld and Payne was remanded to prison.
He will make his next court appearance on May 6, before Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
