Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC), Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Everest registered victories when
the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament continued last weekend.
Host MSC overcame Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) by four wickets. Batting first GYO were bowled out for 95 in 41.1 overs. Chris Deonarine made 25 and Surendra Heeralall 22; Steven Sankar captured 5-25 and Shaquille Moseley 3-5. MSC replied with 169-8 declared. Ncosie Barker got 40 as Trevon France snared 4-51. GYO were bowled out for 109, batting a second time. Garfield De Roche cracked 56 while Sankar claimed 4-28, Delon Darymple 4-48 and Vishal Narayan 2-10.
Set 36 for victory, MSC lost six wickets before reaching their target. De Roche claimed 2-15.
At DCC – The host beat Diplomats by 51 runs thanks to a big hundred from Dennis Squires who was well supported by Sachin Singh. DCC rattled up 237-3 declared, batting first with Squires slamming 140 and Sachin Singh 60.
Diplomats responded with 187 all out. Almando Doman scored 71; Squires snared 3-43. Leading by 30, DCC posted 172-9 declared batting a second time. Squires slammed 85; R. Mohamed grabbed 4-17.
Needing 203 to win, Diplomats were sent packing for 171. S. Forde got 43; Antonell Atwell picked up 3-60 while Dexter George and Lyndon Lyght had two each.
At GYO – Everest Cricket Club thumped Ace Warriors by eight runs. Everest batted first and were
bowled out for 119. J. Jeffrey took three wickets and C. Dick two. In response Ace Warriors were routed for 86. Neil McLean had 4-14 and Javed Rasheed 2-27.
Enjoying a lead of 30, Everest were bowled out for 109 in their second turn at the crease. Dick claimed 5-24. Set a target 142 Ace Warriors was dismissed for 136. Roger Aron and Dick made 33 and 28 respectively while Riyad Sattaur took 5-25 and Rasheed 2-22.
