DEAR EDITOR,
It has been brought to my attention by some friends and supporters of the APNU+AFC Coalition that a handful of persons of African descent have been threatening our brothers and sisters of Indian ancestry. They have been visiting certain communities, on the East Bank and the East Coast, in particular, threatening that when the coalition wins on May 11, 2015, they will take revenge against our brothers and sisters.
Upon investigating, these reports, I have discovered that these persons, who are using APNU+ AFC T-shirts, are provocateurs working for the PPP/C; they are neither members nor supporters of the APNU+AFC Coalition.
One was actually at our meeting, Sunday night at the Parade Ground, at the ceremony to observe the 40th day of the death of that Martyr, Brother Courtney Crum-Ewing. Also, two were at the protest at the Marriott. At that activity, they were encouraging the protestors to destroy, loot and burn.
We deprecate this evil action of the PPP/C. It is very sad.
Our brothers and sisters who have been so threatened should report it to the nearest police station. They should identify those scare-mongers and wicked persons; those provocateurs; satanic agents of the devil, who want to steal, kill and destroy. Take their photographs and hand it over to the police. I call upon the police to take appropriate action.
Finally, I encourage all Guyanese to stay focused and strong; avoid distractions, provocation and all other negatives. Use all of your energies to advance the cause for a new Guyana.
Hamilton Green
Mayor of Georgetown
