RHTYSC Silver Jubilee 1990 – 2015
International soft drink brand, Pepsi has renewed its cricket sponsorship of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) Under-19 and Intermediate teams for the 11th consecutive year.
The cheque valued $230,000 handed over to the club on Thursday last at a simple ceremony held at the Demerara Distillers Ltd Head Office, Diamond, East Bank Demerara. Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster and DDL Brand Manager, Mr. Larry Wills represented their two organisations.
Foster noted that DDL and Pepsi has been sponsoring the Under-19 team since 2004 and the sponsorship has been very successful with the team winning three Berbice championships whilst producing numerous Berbice and Guyana players.
Players the caliber of Assad Fudadin, Abdel Fudadin, Khemraj Mahadeo, Dominic Rikhi, Murphy LaRose, Loydel Lewis, Shailendra Shameer, Shemaine Campbelle,Plaffinna Millington, Clinton Pestano, Brandon Prasad, Akshay Homraj, Junior Williams, Kevlon Anderson, Shevon Marks, Shabiki Gajnabi, Shawn Perriera, Parmanand Narine, Naresh Mahadeo and Terrence Madramootoo.
Foster disclosed that with Pepsi sponsorship, the club was able to concentrate on proper preparation of its teams. The Pepsi team in 2012 also won the first ever Intermediate championship organized by the Berbice Cricket Board under the captaincy of Ravi Narine.
The RHTY&SC Under-19 and Intermediate teams under the sponsorship over the years has successfully completed over 800 self-developmental programmes under the sub-headings of sports, culture, religious, anti-drugs, anti-suicide, pro-education, charity, awards and are currently playing a major role in the club’s Silver Jubilee anniversary celebrations.
Profound gratitude was extended to the Management of DDL and Pepsi for their continued confidence in the club. Special mention was made of Marketing Director Mrs. Sharda Chand and Brand Manager Larry Wills.
The two Pepsi teams, he stated would continue to represent the popular brand with discipline, commitment, passion and hard work.
Brand Manager Larry Wills in brief comments, stated that Pepsi was pleased to be associated with the RHTY&SC, an organization with a remarkable record of achievement. Wills urged the players to be disciplined at all times and to be proud ambassadors of the Pepsi brand. Wills congratulated the club on its Silver Jubilee anniversary and wished the members more success in the future.
