the last month been the beneficiary of nutritional food items. Yesterday, food items to the value of $110,000 were donated by TCL Guyana Inc. a subsidiary of the TCL Group of Companies. This is the second such donation within the last two years from TCL.
Speaking on behalf of NAPS, Programme Manager, Dr. Shanti Singh pointed out that Senior Social Worker/Nutritionist Mr. Somdatt Ramessar has been working assiduously to increase private sector support and so far has been doing a great job with 41 per cent of donations coming from the private sector annually.
Over the last eight years since the establishment of the Food Bank, in excess of 29,000 food hampers have been distributed to eligible beneficiaries across the country.
It is through these collaborations that the Food Bank is able to sustainably address the nutritional support to persons living and affected with HIV and those co-infected with tuberculosis.
The contents of the hamper aid in building and sustaining a healthy immune system which is critical for persons living with HIV to continue to live long, healthy, productive lives.
TCL Guyana which has pledged continued support is a cement bagging facility, which was incorporated under the laws of Guyana in March 2004. The plant which started operation in 2006 is located at Princes and Water Street in the GNIC Compound.
