The body of a man reportedly of unsound mind was fished out of the Demerara River, yesterday, in the vicinity of West Watooka by Police.
The incident which occurred shortly after 16:00hrs drew scores of curious onlookers, who wanted to get a glimpse of the person.
Some residents in the West Watooka community said that the man was clearly a stranger, as nobody had seen him before.
He was however, later identified as Murtland (only name given) by other persons who said they knew him. The victim reportedly had no fixed place of abode.
Informed sources said that he was of unsound mind, and occasionally wandered the streets.
