One man is now dead following a family feud that followed the setting of a grass fire that got out of hand.
The incident allegedly occurred at Levi Dam (Cow Dam), Angoy’s Avenue, on the outskirts of New Amsterdam.
According to information the incident stemmed from a fire that was set by the Christian family. The fire spread to the nearby yard. Ode Christian called “Buddy”, 38, of Levi Dam, Angoy’s Avenue was shot dead. His brother Gavin Christian, 28, a mason of the said address was severely injured and is now a patient in the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Information revealed that another man, known as Charles was also injured after he was shot by the suspect who made good his escape.
The suspect, known as Bagie Alli, was recently released from jail after serving three years on a marijuana charge.
The Christian brothers had set fire to a piece of land which they had cleared. The fire spread to the land next door owned by “John.”
John, it is understood, became upset and made some threatening remarks.
One of the brothers went over to inquire of the damage and John chopped him. He called upon his brother for assistance and as his brother came to his rescue he was chopped several times and fell.
As the brothers were retreating, another man identified as Bagie Alli came out with a gun and started shooting, mortally wounding Buddy and hitting Charles in the arm.
Up to last night the police were combing the area for the assailants.
