Rose Hall Town Bakewell A & B Teams recorded easy wins when the fourth round of the Berbice Cricket
Board (BCB) New Building Society (NBS) second division tournament was played on Sunday last.
RHT ‘A’ team led by brilliant performances from former Berbice Under 19 player Vidal Crandon and off spinner Mark Fernandes destroyed Letter Kenny by 9 wickets at the Whim Community Centre while the ‘B’ team got past Belvedere at the Area ‘H’ ground following a classy innings of 60 from Berbice Under-15 player, Junior Williams.
RHT ‘A’ bowled out Letter Kenny for 89 in 24.2 overs, only Vishal Samaroo with 35 (5×4) offered any resistance. Off spinner Mark Fernandes claimed 5 for 22 from 7 impressive overs while left arm pacer Rondel Lewis and West Indies left arm female pacer Erva Giddings took 2 for 13 and 14 respectively.
In response, RHT Bakewell ‘A’ raced to 92 for 1 off 12 overs, Crandon blasted five massive sixes and three fours in an unbeaten 61, Mark Papannah made 20*.
At the Area ‘H’ ground, the ‘B’ team which is made up of mostly Under-15 players scored 208 for 7 off their allotted 35 overs; Sinclair batted well for 60 (4×4), Keet Joseph 28, Ryan Tillack 26, skipper Simon Lawson 21 and Joshua Gobin 20.
Bowling for Belvedere, F. Mohamed claimed 2 for 45 from 7 overs. In response, Belvedere reached 178 for 9 off 39 overs to lose by 31 runs. Dean Jones top scored with 71 (8×4 2×6) off 40 balls while M. Sububar supported with 21.
Bowling for RHT ‘B’ Simon Lawson took 2 for 14 from six overs, Keet Joseph 2 for 28 (7 overs) while
13 year-old Samuel Lewis in his first senior match claimed 2 for 20 from 6 overs.
Both teams will be in action again on Sunday, the ‘A’ team will play Whim at Whim and the ‘B’ side faces Tamarind Root at the Area ‘H’ ground.
