Raffik & Sons Construction 2nd div. 20-over cricket in Berbice …
The Raffik and Sons Construction Services 2nd division 20-over cricket competition, organised by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) for teams in the Lower/Central Corentyne area continued recently with Yuvendra Chinapen of Fyrish registering the highest score of the competition so far when he slammed 91 against Fyrish Strikers. His knock which included 7 fours and 6 sixes, backed up by 41 from former Berbice under 15 batsman Javed Mohamed, saw Fyrish to 184 for 7 in their 20 overs.
Fyrish Strikers for their part gave a good chase with Ravindra Persaud leading the way with 61 with 4 fours and 5 sixes and Joseph Kamaludin with 43 with 4 fours and 2 sixes but they eventually fell short by 6 runs.
Jai Hind of Albion Front, led by 59 (7×4 and 5×6) from Vicky Veerasamy and 37 (3 fours and 3 sixes) from Aakash Singh, amassed an impressive 193 for 7 in 20 overs against Cheskoy Riders who despite a good knock of 57(3 fours and 3 sixes) from Nazrudeen Bux, could only reach 157 for 9 in their 20 overs. Off spinner Veerapen Moonsammy picking up 4 for 18 from 3 overs for Jai Hind.
Letter Kenny Young Stars did very well to bowl out defending champions Courtland All Stars for 82 in 17.4 overs thanks mainly to off spinner Perry Kanhai and former Berbice under 19 per spinner Parasram Tilkuram who picked up 3 wickets each.
Their euphoria was however short lived as they were bundled out for 44 in 15.2 overs. Courtland pacers former Berbice senior player Eon Gibson with 4 for 6 from 3.2 overs and Michael Cummings 3 for 4 from 3 overs were too hot to handle.
