70-year-old Zamin Hamid takes 5 for 36 for Fyrish road
The 2015 New Building Society Limited Second Division Cricket Competition for teams in Berbice
continued recently with defending champion D’Edward opening their account with a massive win over Ithaca Valiants. Their opening batsman Devendra Lalsa scored 91 with 8 fours and 5 sixes and Navin Rampersaud 52 with 4 fours and 1 six to steer them to 253 all out in 34.5 overs. Akeem Miller and Mark Amsterdam took four wickets each for Ithaca. Medium pacer Heeralall Bridgelall then took 5 for 33 from 7 overs to help skittle out Ithaca for 75 in reply.
Veteran 70 year old off spinner Zamin Hamid, playing for Fyrish Road, did well to take 5 for 36 from 8 overs but Jai Hind still managed to reach 221 all out in 39 overs, thanks mainly to Vicky Veerasammy’s 59 consisted of 5 fours and 4 sixes. Jai Hind off spinner Joshel Garner then took 6 for 26 off 6.5 overs to restrict Fyrish Road to 155 in 30.5 overs.
No 52 Survival’s off spinner Michael Kendall took 5 for 65 from 7 overs in No 59’s 207 all out in 23 overs with Rohit Raju contributing 62. Pacer Victor Ramsaroop then took 5 for 21 from 3 overs which together with 4 for 12 from 2.2 overs from off spinner Rishiram Netchandra saw No 52 bowled out for a paltry 81 in 15.2 overs in reply.
After West Canje were bowled out for 136 by Angoy’s Avenue Achievers, off spinner Qwesi Mickle took 5 for 6 to skittle out Angoy’s Avenue for a disappointing 64.

At No 52, No 59 beat No 52 Survival by 128 runs. No 59 207 in 23 overs with Rohit Raju 62 and Tamesh Ramsaroop 26. Michael Kendal took 5 for 65 and Vickas Ramjaewan 3 for 75. No 52 Survival 81 in 15.2 overs with Victor Ramsaroop 5 for 21 and Rishiram Netchandra 4 for 12.
At Lochaber West Canje, West Canje beat Angoy’s Avenue by Achievers by 72 runs. West Canje 136 in 18.3 overs with Eddie Schultz 39 and Safraz Kadir 28. Chris Sulker 3 for 32, Jamal Rose 2 for 15 and Adrian Busgith 2 for 20. Angoy’s Avenue Achievers 64 in 14.1 overs with Kwesi Mickle 5 for 6.
