Suriname’s current league leaders Inter Moengotapoe arrived yesterday afternoon
to battle leading Guyana club side Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United and T&T’s Central FC in Group 1 of the Caribbean Football Union 2015 Club Championship which kicks off tomorrow at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
The Surinamese side will renew rivalry with their Guyanese counterparts in the group’s first game and have declared that they have done their homework and are ready to take care of business.
Speaking with Kaieteur sport from the base hotel, Windjammer International and Cuisine, Queen Street, Kitty, yesterday, Communications Manager of the team, Humphrey Dundas said they are ready for the Alpha and Central FC challenge and have been very active in their country league.
Inter Moengotapoe is currently the top side in the Surinamese league, ahead of their opponents by six points with four matches to play. Despite losing the Cup final on Sunday night in the Dutch speaking country, Dundas believes that that result would not affect the focus of his team.
“We come to pass this round and go in the second round, we are confident and prepared. We know Alpha United very good, we know it’s a hard team also and they have good players but we are prepared.”
The all local side has a number of national players including goalkeeper, Obrindo Huiswoud and two products of the Digicel Kick Start Clinics, Emilio Limon and Stefano Rijssel. Some of the other team members are Ronny Brunswijk, Jungio Brunswijk, Andujelo Amoeferie, Giovanni Asabgie, Joel Baja, Stefan Banetti, Hugo Daniel, Saveiro Gazon, Romano Holtuin and Patrick Jimmy.
Intermoengotapoe will round out group play on Friday against Central FC.
