Two days after a Grove, East Bank Demerara, resident escaped with her life following a home invasion,
the police are yet to pay a visit to the scene of the robbery.
On Thursday evening, Merica Hall (previously reported as Merika Paul), was attacked by a masked man shortly after she made her way home.
At the time of the attack, Hall’s young son had been in her presence but managed to seek refuge in a nearby room.
Though the police have been called to investigate, no officer has made it to the Grove residence.
Yesterday, Hall expressed frustration at the lack of police response to the injustice she received. She explained that she had called the police on the night of the attack but more than an hour later no rank had visited the residence.
Hall added that she was forced to head to the Grove police station where she made a report of what had transpired that evening. She said that she was accompanied by a police officer around the area in an attempt to find the thief.
However, by then the bandit was long gone.
“After that drive, they never visit,” Hall emphasised. She continued, “If they had just come when I call since about 8 [PM] they would have got the guy.” She added that the Grove Police Station is not far from her home.
Hall, who has been living in the Grove home since August, indicated that she no longer feels safe in her home. As such, she said, she was looking for another place to live.
“I just feel like people are too aware of my movements,” Hall said.
The woman is also seeking to secure her other possessions, including her key. The key for the car was stolen along with a number of other items in Hall’s handbag.
“The main thing right now is getting back my ID card; I need to go in this coming week to GECOM and have it taken care of,” she added.
Hall, the sister-in-law of recently deceased activist Courtney Crum-Ewing, was attacked in her home in what was apparently a planned robbery. Initially, Hall had feared that the invasion had been an assassination attempt on her life, not unlike that of Crum-Ewing.
