– fourth body to surface in recent weeks at seawall locations
The search for 17-year-old Daviekumarie Ramadar, of 59 Bella Dam, Pouderoyen ended dramatically
yesterday afternoon when her body was discovered on the Blankenburg foreshore.
According to reports, persons were passing on the seawall at approximately 14:30 hours when they detected a foul odor. Upon further investigation they discovered the body among the boulders.
According to reports, the body, was identified after persons contacted the missing girl’s grandfather, after they noticed that the mauve jacket on the body matched the clothes the girl’s parents were describing throughout the week to residents during their search for Ramadar. The girl’s grandfather subsequently identified the body as that of Ramadar.
The former employee of Parsaram Discount store, on Water Street, had gone missing since April 4. She reportedly had a dispute with her employers and walked off her job. That was the last time anyone saw her.
The mother of the teen, Jajranie Omadat, was grief stricken even as she tried to make sense of what had happened.
“She left Saturday morning to go to work and she kiss she brother and she gone. And then she call me and tell me she going to town to get this bag and bring home. But I didn’t know she had any problems at work place. When me reach home Samantha (a co-worker of teen) call me and tell me how she had problems.”
According to the mother, she was told that Ramadar had problems with her boss and someone named Raj. She said she was told that her daughter had just left the store and that she should try to contact her.
Omadat said that she immediately tried calling her daughter and eventually found the girl who told her not to panic.
“She say Mommy, ‘Don’t go station, don’t go nowhere, I am going to come home. She will look for some work at Diamond, Richard carrying she to look for some work, then she will come home. And that was it.” According to the woman, Richard was her boyfriend.
At the time the teen left her home on Saturday, she was reportedly dressed in the mauve top, blue jeans, silver slippers and a brown bag. When the body was recovered, she was dressed only in her top, along with a few items of jewelry. Her jeans, bag and cell phone were nowhere to be found.
Two persons of interest are currently in custody assisting with investigations.
The body is at Ezekiel Funeral home.
