With just over two weeks to go before race day, a number of major sponsors are already on board for the Bush Lot United Turf Club (BLUTC) one day horserace meet set for Sunday 26th April 2015 at the club’s track at
Sea View Park, Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
The event, which will be the first for the club for the year, will see eight races being contested with over $5M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
Speaking to coordinator Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sukdeo preparations are progressing nicely and most systems are in place. He said that the club which has been rated as the most improved for the past four years has seen renovation works almost complete on the entire arena.
So far a number of sponsors are already on board including Banks DIH Limited, Inshan Bacchus Hard Running Trucking Service and horse racing stables, Jumbo Jet Business Enterprise and racing Stable, Sandro Sukdeo of Sandro’s Indian Fashion, Que Trek Trading, Lakeram Buddy Sukdeo and Buddy Shivraj Business enterprise.
The feature race will be for horses classified ‘C’ and lower for a total package of over $1.2M and trophy over 1500M.
There is an event for horses classified D3 maiden and E and F Class winners over 1500M for a first prize of $400,000 and trophy. The 1200M race for three Year old Guyana and West Indies bred and born animals has winning money of $300,000 and trophy.
Horses classified G1 and lower will be running for a winners take of $350,000 and trophy over 1300M. The G3 and lower 1300M race will see the winner also pocketing $300,000 and trophy.
The ‘I’ and lower horses will get their opportunity to race for the winning purse of $250,000 and trophy over 1300M.
The final two races are for animals classified the J and lower and K and lower over 1300 M for winning takes of $200,000 and $150,000 and trophies respectively.
Rehabilitation work is ongoing at the moment at the facility with the grand stand, the paddock, fencing, the rails, jockey board and the officials housing area all being completed. Water supply, lighting and other amenities has been upgraded. Land filling work at the venue has also been completed. Most of the turns on the track have also been reshaped.
Coordinator Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sookdeo is promising turfites a grand day of racing.
Top individual performers including top jockey, stable and trainer will be presented with trophies compliments of the organizers.
