Bail was granted in the sum of $100,000 for a Campbellville mechanic accused of simple larceny.
The charge was read to 55-year-old Munsehwar Bisnauth by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
Particulars of the charge stated that on April 3, at Alexander Village, Georgetown, Bisnauth stole one ‘Pit Bull’ mini bus, one bottle of oil, one brake pad and one filter, valued in excess of $4.7M, property of Dominique Jackson.
According to the prosecution, the defendant admitted to committing the offence, and he was found in possession of a duplicate key for the bus.
However, the bus was recovered but the other articles mentioned in the charge are still missing.
Bisnauth’s Attorney in her bail application told the court that her client did some work on the victim’s bus and was never compensated. She added that the victim has $700,000 outstanding for the defendant and had promised to pay him.
The lawyer pointed out that the victim was unable to re-pay her client and subsequently told him to take the bus as compensation.
Bisnauth will make his next court appearance on April 15.
