Police have detained the brother of 31-year-old Quincy Bowman, who was slain execution-style in
Festival City last Monday. The sibling was reportedly taken into custody on Wednesday, but Kaieteur News was unable to ascertain why he is being held.
Bowman, a clothes and cosmetics vendor, had lived with his brother at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara. The sibling has said that he went out around 21.00 hrs on Saturday, leaving Bowman at home.
Bowman was shot in the back of the head at around 04.00 hrs on Easter Monday on a bridge in Nutmeg Street, Festival City.
Speculation is that the victim, who only returned from French Guiana last December, was lured or forcibly taken to the spot.
Residents recalled hearing two gunshots at around 04.00 hrs. They then heard the sound of a motorcycle leaving the area. Bowman was subsequently found lying motionless on the bridge.
Police managed to identify the slain man after using a cell phone they found in his pockets to contact his acquaintances.
