A 22- year-old vendor accused of stealing a gold chain was yesterday refused bail.
Leevan Cameron, a father of one, denied the allegation which stated that on Monday, April 6, at Stabroek, while in the company of others, he robbed Aziz Ganga of one gold chain valued $300,000.
Attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat asked the magistrate to grant his client bail in a reasonable sum because he is a young boy. He told the court that no proper investigation was done by the police as it relates to the matter.
However, the prosecutor objected to bail, citing the prevalence, seriousness and penalty the offence attracts if the defendant should be found guilty.
Magistrate Fabayo Azore then remanded the accused. He will return to court on April 13.
