Frank Tucker was returned President of Guyana’s Amateur Weightlifting Association (GAWA) when the
association held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election at Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) Headquarters.
The other elected members of the GAWA Executive include: Subrina Pestano (First Vice-President), Burtrum Austin (Second Vice-President), Seon Erskine (General Secretary), Sean Cozier (Treasurer), Franklin Wilson (Assistant/Secretary Treasurer), Leeron Brummel (Organising Secretary) and Aubrey Henry (Publicity Secretary).
According to a press release from the association, the long-serving General Secretary, Deion Nurse, did not seek re-election. “Tucker, after thanking the members for their confidence in him, moved a motion that Nurse be declared an honorary life secretary,” the release said.
Pestano seconded the motion that was unanimously carried by the members. Various reports were presented to the members, who adopted them. The GAWA programmes for 2015 were also adopted by the members.
The association’s immediate focus for the first half of the year is its first competition in April, and their attendance at the Pan American Weightlifting Federation Congress and Junior Championship, scheduled for Cali, Columbia in May.
