Score’s Even finishes down the order
CP Got Even of the Elcock/Poonai Stable, trained by Colin Elcock and Ridden by Paul Delph, did not only get even with favourite Score’s Even, but ran a brilliant race to defeat the undisputed champion and become the new champion of the track at the Port Mourant Turf Club yesterday. The event was the Jumbo Jet and PMTC organised Guyana Cup Fever one day horserace meet.
It was bound to happen and it was not only the resilience of CP Got Even, but the tactics of the Elcock Stable personnel that combined and defeat the big grey. With the distance more that 1800M it was bound to be a tactical race. Curfew Tower with Yap Drepaul aboard that came out with all guns blazing at the start. That horse was joined by fellow speedsters Diplomatic Cat and Just Call Me Boss going at tremendous burst and taking Score’s Even with them.
It was the perfect race for finishers like CP Got Even and Jack in My Style. True to script, the animals hit the far turn for home and it was CP Got Even that started to make its move. Half way down the homestretch it was CP Got Even that was distancing itself from the rest of the field to win easily by about six lengths. Jack in My Style came through for second with Diplomatic Cat looking good for third and Curfew Tower held on for fourth. Score’s Even after a long time ran out of the money to finished fifth. The win was worth a whopping $1.2M and the beautiful Banks DIH Limited trophy.
Spit Fire of the Sheriff stable burned up the track to win the event for D3 maiden and lower plus four year old animals. Keep on Swinging of the Jumbo Jet Stable bided it time before swinging out in front to take top honours in the event for three year old West Indies bred horses.
The G1 event was taken by Appealing Harvest of the Jumbo Jet stable. Release the Beast of the Jumbo Jet Stable was released with telling effect as it ran away with the G3 and lower race.
Royal Cash won some cash, taking care of business in the race for animals classified three year old and I and lower.
There were plenty controversy in the J2 and lower race which was eventually won by Secret Escape. The top stable award went to the Jumbo Jet Stable, with trainer Carlton Pluck of the same entity being adjudged the champion trainer. Trinidad and Tobago Jockey Badrie was the champion jockey on show.
A large crowd was in attendance with Slingerz sounds system providing musical accompaniment throughout the day and late into the night for the after party.
