Dear Editor,
The Independent Party (IP) is extremely concerned that the leadership of the APNU/AFC have taken a questionable position on the issue of the voters list being heavily padded in what is believed to be in favor of the PPP.
In fact, the leadership of the APNU/AFC have only pronounced (reluctantly) on said matter after it was brought to their attention by experts who have shared the evidence with the IP of said list being padded in almost every region.
We are deeply troubled by the APNU/AFC position to deal with the issue of the list being padded after the elections, and not confront it now. Such a position by the ‘Coalition’ ought to raise eyebrows across the country (particularly amongst their supporters) as it is a recipe for major disaster on elections day.
We are once again calling on the APNU/AFC to take a more pro-active approach in confronting the issue, and not leave it up to their supporters to deal with.
In closing, I wish to make it known that I (on behalf of the Independent Party) have spoken directly to Mr. David Granger on the matter. However, it is rather unfortunate that one week has since elapsed without the courtesy of a return call from the APNU’s General Secretary, Joseph Harmon to set up a meeting in order to share further evidence of the list being padded.
Mark A. Benschop
