The Blairmont Cricket Club (BCC) which is a part of the Blairmont Community Centre has organised a cricket camp for the Easter holidays.
The two weeks camp is scheduled to commence from today and run until Saturday April 11th at the Blairmont Estate Ground from 13:00hrs to 17:00hrs each day.
The camp will be held under the theme “Cricket and education”. One of the main purpose of the camp is to seek to enhance its membership especially for youths between the ages of 10 to 17 years and those residing on the West Coast of Berbice.
During the camp the youths will be taught the finer points of the game including batting, bowling, fielding, catching, wicketkeeping, throwing among other skills.
Sessions will include both theory and practical, while the participants will be taken through their paces by a team of experienced and qualified coaches.
Other topics such as peer pressure, teenage pregnancy, road safety, sports and education, leadership, respect for the elderly, tobacco, alcohol, marijuana use will also be looked at.
