Weighing in of competitors held
Last year, hundreds crammed into the 704 Sports Bar for what was the country’s first major Arm Wrestling competition and tomorrow it promises to be bigger.
Ryan Joseph on the scale at yesterday’s weighing in of competitors at Gizmos and Gadgets Wellington Street location.
With an estimated 60 participants expected to compete in the two categories (over and under 200 lbs), contestants yesterday converged at Gizmos and Gadgets; one of the sponsors of the event, for the weigh-in.
704 Sports Bar’s Project Manager Dustani Borrow said that the support so far is overwhelming, especially from the public.
In an effort to bring awareness to the sport, the organisers along with their sponsors (Gizmos and Gadgets, E-Networks and Carlsberg Beer) held several outdoor events and made them interactive as persons were allowed to challenge each other in a friendly competition while learning the rules and regulations in the process.
The competition will see both male and female participation with the winners pocketing $100,000, second place $75,000 and third place $50,000.
