Desperate times definitely calls for desperate measures. This was the case of Osafo Gordon yesterday, when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Gordon was sentenced to three months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of rearview mirrors.
The charge read that on March 24, at East Street, North Cummingsburg, he stole the items valued $30,000, belonging to Joel Sooklaal.
After pleading guilty, Gordon explained to the court that on the day in question he was very hungry, so he decided to ride around and look for work .He said that he saw “a big man” who offered him $3,000 to take off the mirrors.
The convict further stated that the man carried him, showed him the mirrors and he removed them. He added that as he was about to ride away with the articles the virtual complainant snatched him and summoned the police.
Gordon asked Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry to be lenient when sentencing him.
