The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) Silver Jubilee anniversary celebration continues to attract the support of corporate Guyana.
Hand-in-Hand Group of Companies has donated two trophies and cash, GTM Group of Companies contributed several trophies while the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) contributed hampers and cash.
DeSinco Trading of Sheriff Street, Campbellville Georgetown donated hampers and Mr. Ronald Williams of Apex Insurance made a donation of trophies and several prizes. Among other entities making contributions are The Gift Centre, Royal Jewel House, Mr. Stanley Ming of Mings Products & Services, F & H Printery of John Street Campbellville, Paul Persaud of NCP Future ADV and Alistair Parris of Len’s Craft Optical, Croal Street.
Club Secretary/CEO, Hilbert Foster informed that the Silver Jubilee Committee, which he heads, has been working beyond the call of duty to make the anniversary a memorable one for all club members and the general public.
He also disclosed that most of the financial contribution is being directed towards the club’s Cricket Development Programme (CDP) while the hampers would be used to honour outstanding members over the past twenty five years.
The CDP, Foster stated is very important to the continued success of the club as several of its senior players have migrated and are accepting professional cricket contracts in Trinidad and Tobago and Canada for a great period of the calendar year.
The objective is to identify a pool of 30 – 40 youths between the ages of 10 to 14 years to undergo special coaching. The training will also groom the players to understand their role as a sports ambassador and role model.
Coach Delbert Hicks and a panel of experienced club administrators will be in charge of the CDP. One of the key aspects of this programme is that promising players who are disciplined, committed, have a strong faith in God and who make the pursuit of education a priority would receive not only cricket gear but educational materials. Foster expressed gratitude to all the donors.
