A 9-Hole Golf League to begin today, an innovation by Golf Club President, David Mohamad to promote more
frequent competitive golf play and to enhance the performance of golfers in Guyana, tees-off at 3:30 p.m. at the Lusignan Golf Club. Dubbed “The President’s 9-Hole Golf League” the new 6-week series is expected to produce much stronger competition and an even higher standard of golf play on the weekend 18-hole competitions.
In addition, the League will serve as a tournament filler keeping golfers continuously competing each week even if there is no sponsored tournament at a weekend. It is proposed that the League will be conducted in each quarter of the year – subject to observation of other Club activities in the last quarter. The Executive is responsible for the Competition Committee.
Golfers are asked to note the following specifics concerning the League. (i) Participation is confirmed by League fee of $4,000 paid before the first competition starts. (ii) League fee is non-refundable as long as golfer plays in one competition. (iii) Competitions will be held every successive Thursday starting on March 26, 2015, for six weeks. (iv) Tee-off time is 3:30 p.m. (v) Competition played under the Medal Play format. (vi) Front Nine holes would be played. (vii) Winners are determined by golfer’s total performance over the 6 weeks. (viii) No player will be awarded more than one prize. (ix) Prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd Best Net and 1st and 2nd Best Gross scores. (x) If there are more than 20 participants a third prize will be added in each category. (xi) Golfers’ weekly scores will also be held on a tally sheet on display in the Club House.
Penalty and Disqualification: (i) More than 2 absences disqualifies the golfer from further play in the League. (ii) For each day’s absence, a penalty of +5 points (strokes) is awarded to the golfer. (iii) If the Executive considers any golfer’s conduct relating to play inimical to the interest of the Club, it may disqualify the golfer from this League.
