A post-mortem examination conducted on the remains of Ramesh Katarnauth, whose battered body was found on the rocky seaside of the Kitty seawall early Sunday, revealed that he died from asphyxiation due to drowning.
The examination which was performed by government pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, also indicated that there were injuries to the 29-year-old man’s neck and blunt trauma to parts of the body.
Katarnauth’s relatives are still unsure how the body ended up on the seawall.
The dead man’s brother, who gave his name as Ryan, said that his sibling left home around 21:30 hours on Saturday to buy a packet of cigarettes but did not return to his 83 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty home.
“After I see he ain’t come back I was looking around the village for him but didn’t find him.”
It wasn’t until the next morning that he received a call informing him that his brother might be lying dead on the seawall.
Upon hearing this news, Ryan went to the seawall about 7:30 hours on Sunday to identify his brother’s bruised body.
He said that he has no idea how this could have happened to his sibling.
Investigations are ongoing.
