Yesterday, a stall aback the Stabroek Market wharf was smashed as a
part of the market roof came crashing down.
Kaieteur News was told that the shopowner was not around and no one was injured in the mishap.
Nearby stallholders said that the roof had been in a dilapidated state for some years.
Recently another part of the roof collapsed, and it was noticed that the remaining portion of the roof is on the verge of collapsing.
It is quite an alarming situation as the collapsing of the roof is a threat to the wellbeing of persons traversing and conducting business in that section of the market, the vendors said.
