Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry ordered a Lethem man to post $100,000 bail, when he made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts yesterday.
The court alleged that on January 20, at Lethem, Shawn Meyers unlawfully and maliciously wounded Dexter Mentore with the intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm.
Meyers, who resides at Lot 6, Tabatinga Drive, Lethem, pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him.
Inspector Michal Grant did not object to the defendant being released on bail.
Grant informed the court that the victim received several stab wounds and a fractured skull.
The matter was transferred to the Lethem Magistrate’s Court for June 1.
