The ‘Clash of the Titans’ Horserace meet organized by the Four Horsemen Promotion
group, set for Sunday at the Port Mourant “Big Yard”, Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice is definitely the most talked about horseracing event on the racing calendar so far in terms of the calibre of animals it has attracted.
Thousands are expected to the venue to witness the mouthwatering races expected to unfold.
A number of sponsors have been making good on promises as they pour forward with their sponsorship deal. The latest on board was the principals of Peter Lewis Associated Construction Services (ACS) of Hampshire, Corentyne, Berbice.
Mr. Lewis in brief remarks stated that his company is happy to be on board with the ‘Clash of The Titans’ Horsesrace meet. He said that his company is one that upholds good standards and quality and they are always willing to support anything that upholds such traits.
The impending activity has all the characteristics of improving the quality of horseracing and he is willing to support he said.
The presentation was done at the company’s head officer at Hampshire Corentyne, Berbice.
Eight races are listed for the day with over 60 horses already on board. With a number of sponsors on board there are now over $8M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs in the various divisions.
The feature A and lower is over 1600M with a whopping first prize of $1.2M and Trophy available and a terrific lineup has been assembled. Guyana number one and only ‘A’ class animal Score’s Even, the big 1000 pound Grey Gilding, is expected to receive its stiffest test so far in that feature event. Although beaten already the animal has not been in the kind of condition it is at the moment. Stable mate Run Nana Run is also showing good form. However with animals the likes Treacle C.P Got Even and Curfew Tower in the race anything could happen. Could the newly imported record breaking Diplomatic Cat get enough time to settle in and continue from where it left off in Trinidad or the likes of Spit Fire, Tiz a Holiday, Western Charm, Spirit of Dixie, Lady Budapest and Storm Mark turn the arena upside down.
The other events include the three year old event for West Indies Bred horses over 1200M for a winner’s take of $400,000 and trophy.
The event for animals classified D3 maidens and four year old horses and non-earners in the last six months over 1400 meters has a winning purse of $300,000 and trophy. The likes of Spit Fire, the resilient Unsettled, Just call Me Boss, Swing Easy, Church House, Right to Rule, Tiz A Holiday, California Strike among others are set to compete.
The G1 and lower 1200M race fetches the winner $320,000 and trophy.
The winner of the three year old Guyana bred and I and lower 1200M event will take home $300,000 and trophy.
The G 3 Maiden and H and lower 1200M race has a winning pocket of $300,000 and trophy.
The ‘J1’ and lower 1100M event has a pole position taking of $240,000 and trophy.
The J3 and lower 1100M event has a first prize take of $200,000 and trophy.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the Trophy Stall and the organizers. The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
Among the sponsors on board so far are Banks DIH Limited, E-Net Works, Southland Distribution Incorporated, Poonai and Poonai, Atlantic Supply , Sleep in Hotel, Star Party Rentals, Latchman Mohabir Cambio, P and P Insurance Company, Taljit Depot, Top Brass Distributors, Delmur Shipping Company, Marcus Trading, Chester Fry Bush Lot, Elegance Pawn Shop, Mikel’s Plaza, and Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service and racing stable, Trophy Stall Bourda Market, Aubrey Elcock, Neil Teekaram, Francis ‘Chico’ Chichester, Archway Snackette, Atlantic Cable Network, Ganesh Singh and Robin Persaud among others.
Music will be supplied by the might Crown Vibes International Sound Company.
The next promotion organised by the group is fixed for August 2nd 2015 at the same venue.
