A 41-year-old miner was killed yesterday after the wall of a pit collapsed on him at Puruni Backdam, Region Seven.
According to reports, Sandiford Edwin was working in a mining pit, some 30 feet deep, at around 09.15 hrs, when one of the walls collapsed and pinned him.
He was taken to the Bartica Hospital where he succumbed at around 18.30 hrs.
The claim is said to be owned by a Bartica resident.
