Host Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) overcame Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) by nine wickets in the semi final of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Banks Malta Supreme U-13 competition yesterday.
DCC made 242-9 in 25 overs, batting first. Sachin Singh scored 23 and Dwayne Dick 10. GYO replied with 278-1 in 25 overs with 43 extras. The second semi final will be played on Saturday between Everest and Transport SC at a venue to be named.
According to the competition regulations, the batting side shall be divided into five pairs and each pair shall bat for five overs. Batsmen shall have unlimited “lives” but each dismissal shall result in 10 runs being deducted from the team’s total. Each team shall commence its innings with a score of two hundred runs.
The winning team shall be the side scoring the higher number of runs after deduction for dismissals has been made.
