With only one week to go before the big “Clash of the Titans” Horserace meet organised by the “Four Horsemen Promotion”, horserace fans can’t wait for the big day.
Set for Sunday 22nd March at the Port Mourant Turf Club known as the “Big Yard”, arguably the largest turf club in Guyana, the event is set to be an explosion.
Eight races are carded for the programme with over $7M up for grabs and a scintillating and action packed day of racing is anticipated with over 50 horses entered so far.
At the moment most of the owners are busy rounding out preparations and making sure everything is in place for the big day. All the big stables will be on board with more than five animals with the Jumbo Jet stable expected to lead the way with over 10. Among them are Shariff, Elcock, Jagdeo, and Bacchus, while others such as Sooklall, Singh, Crawford, Rising Sun and Dookie stables will also have multiple entries.
However the Simple Royal Stable will be represented by six with Guyana Number one and only ‘A’ class animal, Score Even, leading the way. The animal is fit and ready to go and will be accompanied in the feature A class event by stable mate and a fit and ready Run Nana Run and Church House. Both animals are looking kittle trim and as Dennis DeRoop says, in the best condition in a long time. He says that in the condition the animals are in, he doesn’t care who
they bring he is looking for a one two. Brazilian Gold of that stable will also be looking to make its mark.
However, the other animals are also looking good and a classic event is anticipated.
The entries for the feature A and lower 1600M event for a winning take of $1.2M and Trophy has not been settled as yet, with a few juggling still taking place. However with the likes of Score’s Even, Treacle, C.P Got Even, Curfew Tower, Spit Fire and a host of new imports including the highly rated and record breaking Diplomatic Cat out of the Bacchus stable, Tiz a Holiday, Western Charm, Spirit of Dixie, Lady Budapest and Storm Mark also expected to feature, a classic is anticipated.
The other events listed for the day are the three year old event for West Indies Bred horses over 1200M for a winner’s take of $400,000 and trophy.
The event for D3 maidens and four year old horses and non-earners in the last six months over 1400 meters for a winning purse of $300,000, the G1 and lower 1200M race fetches the winner $320,000 and trophy.
The winner of the three year old Guyana bred and I and lower 1200M event will take home $300,000 and trophy. The G 3 Maiden and H and lower 1200M race has a winning pocket of $300,000 and trophy.
The ‘J1’ and lower 1100M event has a pole position taking of $240,000 and trophy. The J3 and lower 1100M event has a first prize take of $200,000 and trophy.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the Trophy Stall and the organizers. The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
The next promotion organised by the group is fixed for August 2nd 2015 at the same venue.
