Deputy Inspector Deodat Urprasad last week took over from Deputy Inspector Henry Sautner, who was rotated out to head a detective bureau.
“It’s a pleasure and privilege to serve this community,” Urprasad told The Forum on Tuesday in Richmond Hill.
The 24-year veteran’s last post was in Patrol Borough Midtown South. Urprasad began his career in Brooklyn North, where he served for 10 years as an officer and sergeant. From there he worked in various Bronx commands.
Urprasad is a Guyanese native who resides in Queens.
“It’s a wonderful borough,” he said, “and I’m privileged to serve it.”
Urprasad takes the lead at a pivotal time for the 102, which covers Kew Gardens, Richmond Hill, Woodhaven, and the northern part of Ozone Park. The latest CompStat figures show an increase in homicides and shooting incidents in the precinct this year compared to this time in 2014. (theforumnewsgroup)
