Two hundred thousand dollars in prizes plus trophies are up for grabs as seven teams battle for supremacy
in the 3rd Rock Entertainment “King of the Ring” Basketball Tournament from March 14th, to April 04th, 2015 at the M.S.C. Hard Court.
According to Colin Adams, Public Relations Officer and Organizing Secretary the reason for hosting this tournament is to return some vibrancy to the sport after an absence of two years. “For two years no real basketball has not been played in Linden because the committee was not functioning. The boys used to play scrubby but now we will be bringing basketball back to Linden in all its glory.”
Adams said “King of the Ring” will be launched Wednesday March 11th, 2015 in the Macaw Conference Room at LEN’s Building. He also noted that after this competition there will be a tournament against Bermuda.
The teams participating are Kings, Wismar Pistons, Victory Valley Royals, Retrieve Raiders, Amelia’s Ward Jets, Falcons and Half Mile Bulls.
The Champions will walk away with $100,000 and a trophy, second place $75,000 and a trophy and third place $25,000 and a trophy. Trophies will also be given to the Most Valuable Player and the Best Defence.
For making this tournament a success Adams thanked the sponsors Banks DIH, Sharma Solomon, Broad Money Spare Parts, Babaloo Car Rental, Horace James, Mark and fresh Shoe World, Bolo’s Variety, Somerset Photo Studio, Annoyance outta Atlanta, Georgia, Vanessa Kissoon M.P., Major’s Sports Centre and Dave and Celena.
