The long awaited final of the 2014 Republic Bank (Guyana) Ltd sponsored Inter Zone Under-17 cricket competition in Berbice is now set for today at the Albion Sports Complex. After several postponements due to the unpredictable weather and other unforeseen reasons, the match will commence at 9:00hrs and will feature the best young cricketers in the county with Lower Corentyne set to clash with New Amsterdam/Canje.
Lower Corentyne with start as slight favorites but a stiff challenge is expected from the lads from the East Bank Berbice NA/Canje area.
Lower Corentyne, who defeated Upper Corentyne in the semi final, has a strong batting line up led by National Under-17 player and captain, Brandon Persaud. He will receive support from Adrian Sukwah and Matthew Hardial. Pacer Sylus Tyndall will spearhead the bowling with support from all rounder Joshua Harrichand and Suraj Dookhna.
NA/Canje on the other hand will have in their line up several all rounders in the names of the in-form Kevon Sinclair, Steve Deonarine, Joel Seetaram, Junior Williams and Sasenarine Sukhu.
The BCB junior selection panel headed by Leslie Solomon will witness the game which will give the players the final chance to create an impression on the mind of the selectors as Berbice Under-17 team concludes preparations for the upcoming Inter County tournament.
