With just about two weeks to go before the mega “Clash of the Titans” horserace meet organised by the “Four Horse Men Promotions” the question being asked, is could any horse in Guyana defeat Guyana number one and only ‘A’ class animal “Score’s Even” in a horserace event over any distance.
That question could be potentially answered on Sunday 22nd March at the Port Mourant Turf Club. The fact is that the best animals in Guyana have been lined up for the event. With eight races on the programme and over $7M up for grabs, a scintillating and action packed day of racing is anticipated. So far over 35 horses have entered.
With Score’s Even dominating the racing circle over the past two years with its speed and stamina and being debarred from some events due to its class, the organisers of the “Clash of the Titans” meet have opened the event so that all the big guns can participate.
With the likes of Score’s Even, Treacle, C.P Got Even, Curfew Tower, Princess She Not, the improving Spit Fire and the highly rated and not yet tested Plum Plum all expected to line up for the feature event the prospects are mouth watering. The winning prize is $1.2M over a distance of 1600M which gives all the animals an equal opportunity in the event.
Rightfully so, the anticipation of finally seeing the race all Guyana wants to see over a Classic Mile, thousands are reserving the date.
With the authorities not wanting to leave anyone out of the activity with the recent announcement regarding changes to the provisional programme, which is a move seen by the racing fraternity as a positive step in enhancing the racing., more hype has been created for the day’s activity.
The four year old event has now created a possibility of fantastic proportions, a double feature so to speak and will also feature horses also classified D3 maidens and non-earners in the last six months over 1400 meters for a winning purse of $300,000. The event will see the much talked about return clash between the much vaunted Spit Fire, the resilient Unsettled and the boss himself and winner on that occasion – Just call Me Boss. When one add likes of Swing Easy, Church House, Right to Rule and newcomer Tiz A Holiday then you already have a horserace meet of immense proportions on your hands. It might very well turn out to be the race of the day.
The other events on the day’s card are the three year old event for West Indies Bred horses over 1200M for a winning prize of $400,000 and trophy. The G1 and lower 1200M event already has a large field and fetches a winner’s money of $320,000 and trophy. There is a race for three year old Guyana bred and I and lower horses over 1200M for a winning take of $300,000 and trophy.
A winning prize of $300,000 and trophy is also available in the G 3 Maiden and H and lower 1200M race.
There are two J class events. The first is for animals classified ‘J1’ and lower over 1100M for a winning pocket of $240,000 and trophy. The J3 and lower 1100M event has a first prize take of $200,000 and trophy.
Trophy Stall along with the organisers have guaranteed the top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer sponsorship for their trophies. The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority. The next promotion organised by the group is fixed for August 2nd 2015 at the same venue.
