Following the completion of several events last weekend, the Region Nine Athletics club, based on
timings has selected eight athletes to represent the region at the upcoming CARIFTA games trials.
The squad reads; Simona Lawrence (3000m), Mary Leandrew (800m), Garville Daniels (100 and 200m), Nyron Edwards (3000m), Brandon Parks (200 and 400m), Kerry Joseph (100m), Deon Jackson (5000m) and Leo king (high jump).
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday, president of the club Kenrick Lewis expressed confidence that the athletes will excel at the trials. “Our Athletes are talented and I am sure they will make the region proud,” he stated.
The trials are set for Saturday and Sunday at the Guyana Defence Force ground, based Camp Ayanganna.
