Former Guyana Under-19 all rounder Khemraj Mahadeo was solid with ball and bat to lead Rose Hall Town
Bakewell to a third successive victory in the Raffik and Son 20-over tournament for teams in the Lower/Central Corentyne area.
Playing against Jai Hinds at the Albion Front ground, the 30 year-old Mahadeo took 2 for 17 off four overs before slamming an aggressive 58 to guide his team to an easy eight wicket win.
Batting first after losing the toss, Jai Hinds reached a respectable 146 for 9 off their allotted 20 overs. D. Naidu top scored with an attractive 50 (1×4 4×6) while L. Veersammy chipped in with 44 (2×4 3×6).
The pair added 90 for the 3rd wicket but after the dismissal of Mahadeo bowled Veersammy in the 15th over, Jai Hinds collapsed from a promising 110 for 2 to 146 for 9. Bowling for RHT Bakewell, Sherain Murray took 3 for 27, Mahadeo 2 for 17, West Indies female pacer Erva Giddings 2 for 22 and off-spinner Azam Khan 2 for 30.
Needing to score 147 from 20 overs to secure victory, RHT Bakewell was given a flying start of 98 by Mahadeo and Vishal Crandon off 10 overs before Crandon was caught at the wicket off D. Naidu for 43 (2×4 3×6). Mahadeo fell at 115 for 2, achieving his personal score of 58 (5×4 2×6). Delbert Hicks and national Under-17 player Brandon Prashad then added 35 runs in an unbroken 3rd wicket partnership to take the visitors to 150 for 2 in 17.3 overs. Hicks ended on 20 (2×4 2×6) and the promising Prashad, 18 (2×45).
RHT Bakewell will now oppose Yakusari Cricket Club at the Area ‘H’ ground next weekend.
