The Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) Mashramani Long Course Swim Meet 2015 concluded
at the National Aquatic Centre Liliendaal on Monday afternoon with the daunting 1500m Freestyle.
Swimming in the Boys 15-17 category, Hannibal Gaskin came out victorious once again to show that he is not only the Speed King but also the distance star as he copped gold in the 1500m Freestyle while Omar Adams took silver and Joseph de Nobrega had to settle for the bronze.
On Sunday, Soroya Simmons added four more gold medals to the three she won on Saturday in the Girls 18 and over to make it 7 in two days.
Simmons got gold in the 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800m Freestyle along with 50m and 100m Backstroke. It was a great day for Simmons, Queen of Distance. In the Boys 15-17 Breaststroke, Satyanand Ramlagan of Dorado Speed Swim Club came out to prove that he is ready to take on all in his age group with a splendid performance which earned gold on Saturday when he defeated Omari Dunn in the 50m and on Sunday doing the same in the 100m.
In the Girls 9-10, congratulations are in order for Amber De Goeas of the Orca Speed Swim Club as she just caught Riley Nurse at the finish to take gold in a thrilling finish in the 50m Backstroke.
In the Boys 11-12 Breaststroke, Nikhil Ramnarine showed all of his friends and family who were at the pool that he has progressed with the coaching that he is receiving at the swim Academy Sea Otters by taking the gold medal. Javed Khan took silver and Reagan Evans bronze.
